Nowadays, traditional arts as water puppetry are in risk of being buried in oblivion and forgotten due to the massive development of modern commercial arts. To preserve, enhance, and popularize this beautiful national culture, “Hoi An water puppetry” programs have officially been organized to serve residents and tourist by Hoi An Center for Culture and Sports.
Usually, every turn of water puppetry is associated with Vietnamese agricultural life activities from thousand years ago as fishing, crabbing, buffalo tending, cultivation, duck catching, and kids playing game. Besides, there are also turns that is deeply imbued with Hoi An and Quang culture like Apsara dance, Legend of Cu (kind of monster).
Water puppetry turns that are elaborately staged by well-trained and experienced artists with careful preparation as content, stage, puppets, sounds, and lights will help audiences immerse in an artistic space characterizing Vietnam and Quang culture.
